pushing daisies season 2.

My favorite alliterating-alliteration-using show returns!

For me, this was the best show that premiered last year, and it’s only bound to come back stronger, I mean, we could only watch the season 1 DVDs enough times before we’ve picked up any theories of future plot threads.

Plus, Autumn Reeser in the season premiere!  w00t!

happy birthday, autumn reeser!

Everyone (what, just me?) remembers her as quirky girl Taylor Townsend from The OC — and now that that’s over, she’s appeared in numerous tv shows and a movie.  We’re bound to see her in the first episode of the season premiere of Pushing Daisies and in (gasp!) C&C: Red Alert 3.

Happy Birthday, Autumn!

“YOU HAVE TO SEE IT!,” Jonat says. I stalled for a week, and regretted having stalled that long. For what was presented to me is something I could only describe as a Dr-Seuss-meets-Tim-Burton-style-romantic-forensic-drama, with the narration, and the juxtaposition of child-like visuals with a deeper, more complex theme.

Pushing Daisies is a “forensic fairy tale” that focuses on Ned, a piemaker with the mysterious ability to make the dead live again. The gift is not without its complications—if he touches a revived being a second time, they die permanently; and if a person is revived for more than 60 seconds, somebody else nearby dies (Ned clarifies this in the pilot episode, stating “It’s a random proximity thing.”) Ned, along with his private investigator friend, Emerson Cod, and his childhood sweetheart, the once-dead Charlotte Charles, whom he likes to call “Chuck”, capitalize on the gift by reviving the dead murder victims to ask them about their last moments so they can collect outstanding rewards, if any, and solve the mystery of how the deceased met their end.”

Aside from the premise that made it my new favorite show for the season, another reason I got endeared to this show is Anna Friel as ‘Chuck.’ She looks like Mary-Louise Parker from Weeds! Not only that, she also has ‘Louise’ for a middle name. (Plus, she’s only 8 years, 11 months and 7 days older than I am, compared to MLP’s 20 years, 11 months and 17 days.)

Anna Louise Friel

They’re not related though, since Anna is from the UK, while Mary is from the US. But yeah, I’ve got ‘Chuck’ to look forward to on Wednesday nights (Thursday mornings here), plus, metaphors and alliteration turn me on. 🙂
