Hmmm … so that’s what that feels like.

Earlier this week, I had my last day at my first job.

The last year-and-a-half rocked harder than anyone’s nanay — from the meetings that excited me, the yosi breaks, the great people I got a chance to meet, the chance to manage a site, the events I got to be part of, the 25 chat events + brewing point sessions I was able to moderate to the hours I’ve spent getting into what other people were thinking through the message boards and the chat room.

It’s a heartbreak, but, as the-only-person-who-makes-me-cry says, “pag gusto mo talaga, babalik at babalik sayo.” I guess it’s time to provide value for others.

When I actually made the decision, I had no plans whatsoever. When my relatives and friends heard about this, they flooded my email with job offers, job fair schedules, internship opportunities and programmer training chances. By lunch time the day I first declared the plan? I already had a job lined up.

I’ve never been a fan of hard work, as opposed to “right” work. Getting things right is a nice discipline — the more you do something, you tend to find shortcuts and work-arounds to make your life easier, yet producing the desired result. (And, yeah I’m still working at getting the discipline down.) So yeah, I picked the easiest job choice, one that didn’t require a lot of work on my end, and yet provides value for others while I’m away. How cool is that?

To my officemates — like I’ve said in my last e-mail, you guys are the family that inhabits my weekday universe. Ano pa nga ba masasabi ko, alam nyo naman na lahat ng iniisip ko? Yehey!

To my family and friends — you guys, along with the internet, the bed I sleep in and a whole lot of Coke, and WoW (recently) are the important people and things that encapsulates my universe.

While this is getting a bit too sad — there’s still work to be done. So if anyone’s looking, I’m here discovering new music on, a mere batsignal away.

P.S. If you don’t get the title, look here!

what did you do last week?

Wanted a sunjar. (And still wants one. Not to mention Monday’s “Maasimang Ubas” session.)

Chat event: Cambio. (Nawawala yung EP dito sa bahay. olats.)

Missed the Toastmasters thing.

Saw Cloverfield! It’s a fucken’ epic! I liked the spider-lobster things that made you explode in a bloody mess. I love the Lovecraft-ian design of the Cloverfield monster — I’m glad it didn’t turn out to be a whale, or science, or explicitly-mentioned-aliens. I think that’s where it succeeds, in it’s supernatural appeal — see, once you take apart something, that something loses it’s magic. (An example of this? Trinoma — I loved not-knowing it stood for ….)

But when I think about monster movies, I can’t help but think of how they’ll be disposing of the monster remains. They can’t very well bury it; there’s no land big enough for the carcass and they can’t throw it in the ocean, as it may pollute the ecosystem. How about Cloverfield burgers?

HappySlip! Just tons of busy enthusiasm from officemates, the security, the cafe management and the fans … two days in a row!

Saw the tastiest-looking pair of girl eyes last week.

Scud’s return to comics! Whee!

To quote Schrab, “I believe, the greatest sin is not finishing what you started.” Will Sussudio live? Will Scud be free from the contract?

Check out the new comics from Image.

All in all, just another week in the Yehey! offices. 🙂

that trinoma food tour thing.

(waving this around means “feed me!”)

It occurred to me that, while most people work to eat, I was lucky enough to eat so that I could get work done during the Trinoma Blogger’s Food Tour. (And hopefully “eat-to-work” will happen more often… :p ) As the year started, I promised to live in overindulgence, so this is in alignment with my goals. I know it’s been a full three-or-so days since then and I’m only just now writing about it, but everything that took place took a lot of decompression. (Or digestion?)

[STOP! HAMMER-TIME! Before treading on, might I suggest you grab a lightly-salted snack and a hot/cold beverage. Also, play a nice upbeat tune, for maximum enjoyment.]

all tuckered out.

all tuckered out.

‘Nuff said. (Well, not really, I would give my thanks for all the help from the presscon to the party. (and that’s my cue to give yourselves a pat on the back, from me — the family, the “family,” the excellent people at work [special thanks to Cheekie for the Sobranies!], FTW people who share drinks with me, and the users who enjoyed themselves at the party! and yeah, you could help out by propagating the “hrudu haet christmas” campaign — Happy Holidays!)

…and a couple more hours before the party!  — So why am I stumbling upon toilet signs that I might possibly want for the future Potato House?

(BTW, I want these:

I’m just a bit down that I don’t have a Frank the Bunny outfit to wear, haha!  (see above)

Pero 11 years ago talaga, Christmas party namin nung grade 5 yung 19th …

also, it’s been a year since chikins.

on living forever.

Relaying some information I’ve learned from my “brother” to write this article, my boss Laz asked the question: “so, how does it feel to get your article published?” Of course the question was drowned out in the sound of the bacchanalian festivities going on at our table, and with it, my answer — I love it.

Like I’ve told him the first time we talked, I like to write, do doodles and create stuff. It’s a great way to live forever.

As Steve Pavlina puts it in this podcast (right-click and choose “Save As…”, 30:08 minutes, 13.8 MB), “[creative self expression] is that state of flow, that timeless state you’re in, where you’re not really aware so much of what you’re doing, it’s more of a sense of being, you’re right there in the moment, you’re in the present moment, expressing naturally who you are.”

I love the truth. My love for it has opened doors that utilize my creativeness to spread it. Those doors are maintaining a blog, talks with my friend Kash on starting a magazine to champion print media, my chance at writing for the site, my secret life as a tabloid writer (oops, haha) and my application as contributor for WeirdAsiaNews. (Truth in the form of outrageous headlines.)

Spreading “The Truth” and honing my skills at the same time? Growth, bey-beh.

I mean, come on, my brain is my source of income — if I wanted to do physical labor, I would’ve worked out more. 🙂

[10292007 edit: Earlier this week, the same “brother” asked me if he could post one of my older articles on his site. Published twice in one week? Winnery! Woohoo!]

yehey! in the papers.

A user was kind enough to send me a scan of an inquirer article about Yehey! last February. I only recently came across it on my office PC. Check it!
